Connecting the Wiimote to a Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack
From Smoothboard
This is a guide to connecting a Wiimote to a Bluesoleil stack in both XP and Vista. It takes a few steps to connect your Wiimote the first time but the future connections are a lot quicker.
First Connection Sequence
Follow this guide if this is the first time you are connecting your Wiimote to your PC, you are connecting a different Wiimote to your PC or you have removed the Wiimote from your HID list.
1. To open you can right click on the systems bar and select 'Explore My Bluetooth Places' or double click on 'My Bluetooth Places' in 'My Computer' or open Bluesoleil from 'Start/All Programs/IVT Bluesoleil/'
2. Hold buttons 1 & 2 (don't let go or you will have to restart)
3. Wait for your Wiimote to be detected 'Nintendo RVL-CNT-01' will display
- If Bluesoleil does not detect your Wiimote, unplug your Bluetooth radio, plug it back in, reboot your computer, start again and press the centre orange circle before step 2.
4. Right click the Wiimote (Nintendo RVL-CNT-01) that shows up and click 'Refresh Services'.
- Should this not work, press 1+2 on the Wiimote and simply click on the Wiimotes icon in Bluesoleil
5. Click the Bluetooth HID mouse button that shows highlights on the top row of device.
- If this results in a "The service not available connection failed" message then you will have to try the #Alternative Solution
6. If this is a first time connection you will need to wait for the HID drivers to be found and installed. This may take a while and requires admin privileges on your Windows user.
- The green line indicates the device is connected
8. Release buttons 1 & 2 on the Wiimote
9. Open Smoothboard or your other Wiimote application. (If you wait more than 10 seconds between releasing buttons 1 & 2 and executing your application your Wiimote may disconnect).
Alternative Solution
This is with Bluesoleil installed, and this is how you can make your wiimote work without opening or launching Bluesoleil! Make sure Bluesoleil is closed before doing this.
1. Go to your computer's control panel, and open the 'Bluetooth device'.
2. A dialogue will come up, click on "add device" button.
3. Click the checkbox 'I want to find a specific Bluetooth device and configure how my computer will use its services' then click next.
4. Open up the back of your Wiimote and press the red sync button and then hold buttons 1 & 2 (don't let go or you will have to restart).
5. Wait for your Wiimote to be detected, 'Nintendo RVL-CNT-01' will display.
6. Select the new device and click next.
7. Select "no passcode" and click next.
8. If this is a first time connection you will need to wait for the HID drivers to be found and installed. This may take a while and requires admin privileges on your Windows user.
8. Release buttons 1 & 2 on the Wiimote
9. Open Smoothboard or your other Wiimote application. (If you wait more than 10 seconds between releasing buttons 1 & 2 and executing your application your Wiimote may disconnect).
